South beat North 15-8
May 22nd - Reported by Martin Gower!
Today we went to Kent for the Southern Inter County Youth  Singles,Triples and Pairs. We had sixteen players there and we qualified through to the finals with eleven out of sixteen in the singles with three of our players playing each other. In the Under 18 pairs again two of our pairs drew each other and the others went out in the early rounds. One of the girls pairs lost in the semi final with the other one going out in the last eight. Both our Under 21 boys pairs contested the final so the winning pair goes to the finals. The winning players through to Slough finals are:  Under 18 singles Chris, Brad, Jamie, Harry and Jack. Under 21 girls Ellie and Leanne, Under 21 boys Shaun, Liam, Robin and Terry. It was a great team spirit all day with all of them supporting each other.

Rosie “Gold” Baldwin, aged just 17, beat off competitors from across the country at a qualifying tournament on Sunday in Slough to clinch the place at the prestigious Winmau-sponsored tournament in Hull on October 29. “I like the social side of darts,” said Rosie. “The people are really friendly and encouraging.”
“It is something I would like to do professionally but it’s a lot of hard work and travelling, even just playing for Essex.”   She lists Essex and England players Deta Hedman and Viv Dundon as her arrow-throwing heroes, and admits to being very shy when she first met Deta, although she managed to hold a conversation the second time round! The tournament will be a huge event, with players from around the world competing for titles at the longest-running darts championship. “I want to win it, but there are a lot of good players there so I have got to be at the top of my game,” said Rosie.  “Hopefully I can put Clacton on the map, at least in terms of darts,” she joked. “My family are also great, especially mum and dad as they always give up their time and money. Weekends away for tournaments don’t come cheap!”
Rosie is looking for sponsors to support her during the Masters’ Championships. Anyone interested should contact her mum, Janet Baldwin, on 07597 571748.
