In
Brief: Born in
North London in 1962, the Smith family moved in to Essex in 1966.
Carl started playing darts for the Wernicks Darts Team in the
Wickford & District league in 1982, his first game being at
the Sorcerer. Apart from a short break in the mid-nineties, he has
stayed with the same team, although they’ve changed name and
venue. Carl is a three-time winner of the E.S.L. 116 Cup the last
being in 2001. In 2002 he won the “John Obeney” 180 Cup. In
the Basildon Monday Club league he has won the Singles, the
Presidents Cup and the open Singles in his seventeen years in the
league. He also became the first player to win the “Least
darts”; “Most 180’s” and “Highest Finish” trophies in
the same season. He has been a member of the Basildon Super-league
team since 1985 and won the Singles in 1989/90 season, this being
one of his top highlights. Another top moment was his County debut
although he couldn’t remember when & who against.
Carl’s main aim now is to find the consistency to get
back into the County Squad.
