Name: David Phillips

Team: Collier Row Royal British Legion Club

League: Romford & Havering

2003

In Brief:

Born in Chester in 1953, Dave celebrates his 50th birthday this year.

His family moved to Dagenham in 1957, and it was at the family home that he started playing darts with his father and brothers at the age of 13.

His first team was Daganite Batteries Social Club, Chequers Lane, and mainly played in C.I.U. competitions, winning through to a pair's semi-final, but can't remember the year.

Dave took time out from the game for over a decade and started playing again at the back end of 1996 for the Barkingside Royals in the Ilford & District, then joined Collier Row R.B.L. in 1998 where he's helped them win 3-league titles.

In the Ilford & District he won the Delegates Cup in 2001/2 and the Summer Single's KO last year. Dave enters most of the local and surrounding area's knockout's whenever possible, and his best performance to date came in the Chelmsford Easter Singles 2002 when he lost in the quarterfinals, also losing in the semis of the pair's with young James Thompson the same afternoon.

Dave lost in the final of the Royal British Legion (Chelmsford) May 2002 competition to Mark Landers, and in the final of the pairs with Kevin Stammers in the March 2002 competition.

This season Dave has achieved one of his main ambitions of playing in the Essex Super-league, joining Chelmsford. He also hopes that once he settles down that he will string together some results that may help towards his other ambition, and that's to represent the County, good luck!
