MARK MCGRATH Name: Mark McGrath Team: Brentwood, The Oakwood, East Ham Crescent, Brentwood League: Essex Super League In Brief: Born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1968, Mark left the UK when he was fourteen years old to live in New Zealand. Mark started playing at the age of six and was dragged to all the Ladbrokes events with his dad; Mark couldn't beat his dad until he was fifteen. Mark returned to England (Essex) last August with his wife Cindy and two children Jessica (4) and Connor (18 months) and works as a Baker for Sainsbury's in Romford. Mark joined the Brentwood Super League team and the Oakwood team in September. The Oakwood play in the Brentwood Borough & District league and are currently top of division two, Mark is top of the players table with eight wins from nine games. Marks career highlights so far are: Representing New Zealand at the 1998 Asia/Pacific cup in Malaysia after being a non-playing reserve previously. The team finished second, Mark was third in the pairs and won through to the last sixteen in the singles, the team finished third overall. Mark has been runners-up in the New Zealand Singles; New Zealand Masters; New Zealand Pairs; and third in the New Zealand Open. Mark also highlights that he once finished two consecutive legs with 170. Finally, Mark was delighted at being selected for the Essex County squad and made a winning debut against Lancashire, winning 3-1 and the Man of the Match for the ‘B’ team with a 26.45 average.
